Description:
A hearty red with both power and finesse! There is plenty of mass-produced budget Montepulciano available, but the grape can truly be something special in the right person's hands. In this case those hands belong to Rocco Passetti, winemaker at Contesa! As with most Montepulciano, there is plenty of deep, dark fruit, spice and earth. More distinctively, there is some lift from an herbal tinge, and the nose is more polished than in more rustic offerings. The body of wine is rich with black fruits like plum and blackberry, but the fruit is well-defined and stays clear of over-extracted territory. Tannins on the finish are firm but fine, and not at all gritty. A great option for those looking to move up the Montepulciano quality ladder!
