In case you missed it earlier, I have two rules for enjoying wine.
Rule 1: Drink what you like
Rule 2: Try something different
Chardonnay is the biggest-selling white wine varietal. When you buy Chardonnay, you probably select Kendall Jackson Vintner’s Reserve, Cupcake, Josh, or one of many other outstanding choices in the under $20 range. Those are everyday wines that can also be opened on weekends.
Many of us, however, prefer a more upscale wine for weekends. This is especially true as we start to visit BYO restaurants again. Naturally, we have a wine to recommend for those situations.
We strongly recommend the Buena Vista Carneros Chardonnay. This is a classic example of Carneros Chardonnay and shows all the region’s unique characteristics. This is an approachable white that is robust in apple, pear and melon flavors. The richness takes on elements of baked pineapple and caramel as it opens in the glass. This wine has a regular price of $35.99, and it’s currently on sale for only $29.99, which represents a savings of 17%!
Because we believe in balance, we also have a red wine splurge for you. Although Cabernet Sauvignon is the biggest selling red wine, we’re going in a different direction; this is a Rule 2 post, after all. For so many of us, nothing pairs better with anything grilled than a Zinfandel. Since we’re deep in grilling season now, we happily recommend Tilth Cherryhouse Vineyard Zinfandel.
Boysenberries, spice, and flowers burst out of the bottle. The classic Zinfandel peppery spice finish is prominent. The Lodi vines are about 45 years old, so the wine starts from the right place. Enjoy with steak, burgers, or anything else you might grill. The regular price of this Tilth is $40.99, and we have it on sale now for $34.99, a savings of 15%.
With our wide selection of wines from so many different locations at every price point, the Hopewell and Hamilton Super Buy Rite stores are the best place to shop for all of your Rule 1 and Rule 2 shopping needs.
